Customer experience: How to extend the paddleboarding season?
You can say that I'm really excited about paddle boarding. Often when I see open water that is not frozen, the thought comes to mind: "that would be nice to paddleboard". This has even become a bit of a flying phrase within our family.
Paddleboarding in early spring and late autumn requires proper equipment to be safe and comfortable. Thick and warm enough wetsuitdecent Neoprene shoes, socks and gloves bring warmth and security. If the water is very cold, so too neoprene hood is a good piece of equipment if you happen to take a dip in cold water.
I went paddle boarding in the spring when the water was about 8 degrees. I was wearing Mistral Storm Force 4/3 mm wetsuit. For a wetsuit, it's thicker than a basic suit. Dressing is a bit more challenging because it is dressed from above through the neckline, but it is great when you practice a little. The suit is really functional and warm. It's sturdy, but it flexes a lot and doesn't make paddleboarding any more difficult. The temperature was tested both on the board and with a small test swim. It was a sunny and windless day on the test run, so the outfit didn't even get to the extreme test. It certainly would have done well in colder conditions.
In addition to a high-quality wetsuit, I was equipped with Cressi 5mm neoprene slippers. I chose slippers bigger than usual because I wanted to put them inside neoprene socks. Equipped this way, your feet won't get cold at all, even if the water is really cold. Feet go numb easily and paddle boarding is a pleasure if your feet are freezing inside the slippers. I still had equipment Cress neoprene hood Draget Plus 5 mm. It is a very tight and warm accessory that protects your head and neck from the cold wind when you are on the board, even if you don't actually fall into the water. In my hands, I had Granite's neoprene gloves, which keep my hands warm and also provide a good grip when moving the paddle.
With the right equipment, the paddleboarding season can be started in the spring about a couple of months earlier after the ice has left the waterway, and the season can continue for a couple of months longer also in the autumn. Especially in the autumn, there are often wonderful hot weather, when paddle boarding is enjoyable. For me, paddle boarding is so nicely relaxing and good exercise that I'm happy to extend it if I can do it with the right equipment. Of course, it takes a little more time to gear up and get dressed. Personally, when going for a run, I take the preparation and dressing of the board a bit like they say about sailing: "you will already be there when the ropes are taken off". When you paddleboard, you are already on your way away from everyday life when you start preparing for paddleboarding. My paddle boarding runs are usually 5-12 km in a river, lake or sea. Most of the time I paddle at a steady speed of about 6 km/h in good weather, but sometimes it's nice to challenge myself to a speed run or start going in slightly tougher conditions when the equipment is in order and not There are no worries about a possible fall.
